Million dollar sales from home

This is directed to both coders and graphic designers.

I'm sure you thought about selling your work on a market place on the web.
If not, how does it sound like to have your code snippets, or wordpress themes sold multiple times on the web?

envato has multiple sites specialized just for that.
(envato has a number of interesting sites that are great technical  resources, we did review some of envato sites, check the one we posted about mobiletuts+).


An example of these sites is ThemeForest.


The interesting news that I read today was there was an author who was selling his themes on ThemeForest for three years now, actually became the first to complete a million dollar worth of sales!

He's the guy in the picture below (his name is Kriesi):

The Site Wizard

Remember one the first sites that I reviewed was W3SCHOOLS.COM (check out the following post: http://techfountains.blogspot.com/2009/09/web-building-for-beginners.html )

I called it web building for beginners.

W3SCHOOLS is still is a very good place to start learning how to build websites.

Yet, you might just need more than that.

Here, not only do you start learning how to build a website, you also learn how to choose a domain, register it, find a host, publish your website on a host, and even how to make revenue from your website.

I came across The Site Wizard when I was searching for a tutorial for Dreamweaver (a powerful web design software from Adobe).

They are flooded with tutorials, and as they say, these articles and tutorials that they have are intended  for "people just starting out as webmasters".

So I guess this site is a step up from W3SCHOOLS.

Check it out, and don't get fooled by their old style interface and lack of animation or graphics.

After all, as someone seeking knowledge, it is the content that matters :-)

DesignModo

Ok, if you are a web or graphic designer, then DesignModo is a must  for you!

Even if you're new to the design world, DesignModo can help you a lot with learning what you need.

From tutorials, to random tips, to free stuff, and even free samples and examples, the chances are, you will spend more time on DesignModo than on any other site teaching graphics and design.

Those Deitel Guys !

I must tell you, when I'm shopping for IT books (or looking for them in a library), I'm always intrigued by the "Deitel & Deitel" Books.

When I ran into their website I found that there is more.

If you log into http://www.deitel.com/ you will find some reviews of their books, but if you click on the "Resource Centers" tab you will find a large number of IT topics.

Pressing on one topic (say iPhone App Development) you will get a wealth of links to external web sites, and articles full of tips and resources for the subject you chose.

Click on the "Tutorials" Tab, and just dive into a see of articles full of tips, guides, for many programming languages and platforms.

I'm sure you'll love the Deitel Guys the way I do ;-)

Scriptomania !

This not a word from some commercial break, this what popped up in mind after navigating through www.Scriptol.com

A simple, yet resourceful website, dedicated for those interested in building websites or blogs.

I kind of got the impression that it is oriented for the beginners more than it is for the professionals.

I liked the topics in the "How To" Section,
"How to locate someone through his mobile" or "How to find the country of a certain IP address".
Cute stuff indeed.

Develop, Discover, and Design

An attractive motto indeed.

When I first landed at http://www.netmag.co.uk/ I thought it was all about Microsoft's .net technologies (seeing that ".net" logo on the top of their home page).
But as I navigated through, it turned out to be a website for a hard copy sold magazine and a wonderful resource for web design and development.

The home page will show you the latest additions to the website, but if you click on the "Develop" tab, you'll see a group of articles showing you how things are made, and I'm not talking about beginners tutorials.

The articles are categorized according to the subject.
for example, if the article is about iPhone applications, you'll see a "/Mobile/" tag at the article's header.

The "Discover" tab, is more about telling you about what is around.
What would the new apple iPad will mean to you as a web designer?
You will see the articles tagged as in the "Design" section that contains tutorials, and different other articles.
