HTML Goodies

This is probably one of the oldest sites on the web that is still live online.
HTML Goodies started on 1992 (I remember I first logged in online in 1997!)

At that time, the internet was just in its beginning, and HTML Goodies wanted to teach people HTML and how to build websites.

Despite the simplicity of the web site and its subject, HTML Goodies has evolved to include subjects beyond HTML.

It now includes subjects such as CSS, ASP, JavaScript, you name it!
Any thing that is connected to web building, and it is mostly targeted towards beginners.

So pay it a visit ( http://www.htmlgoodies.com/ ), and start with the "getting started" link on the left block of the web site. (this is where the index of the tutorials is).

The Site Wizard

Remember one the first sites that I reviewed was W3SCHOOLS.COM (check out the following post: http://techfountains.blogspot.com/2009/09/web-building-for-beginners.html )

I called it web building for beginners.

W3SCHOOLS is still is a very good place to start learning how to build websites.

Yet, you might just need more than that.

Here, not only do you start learning how to build a website, you also learn how to choose a domain, register it, find a host, publish your website on a host, and even how to make revenue from your website.

I came across The Site Wizard when I was searching for a tutorial for Dreamweaver (a powerful web design software from Adobe).

They are flooded with tutorials, and as they say, these articles and tutorials that they have are intended  for "people just starting out as webmasters".

So I guess this site is a step up from W3SCHOOLS.

Check it out, and don't get fooled by their old style interface and lack of animation or graphics.

After all, as someone seeking knowledge, it is the content that matters :-)

Scriptomania !

This not a word from some commercial break, this what popped up in mind after navigating through www.Scriptol.com

A simple, yet resourceful website, dedicated for those interested in building websites or blogs.

I kind of got the impression that it is oriented for the beginners more than it is for the professionals.

I liked the topics in the "How To" Section,
"How to locate someone through his mobile" or "How to find the country of a certain IP address".
Cute stuff indeed.

Website Tips

The name says it all : http://websitetips.com/ is a cute resource for web designers.

The website keeps repeating the words "Tutorials and tips" on most of its pages.

The website contains recommendations for books and saoftware downloads.
It also contains web resources for web design.

It's a relatively rich site for web designing information.

Graphics, Graphics, Graphics!

One of the most impressive things computers can do are related to graphics and interfaces.
In fact, computers became more popular as they developed a better graphical interface.

This site http://www.graphics.com/index.htm is dedicated to graphics, and its related topics.

Actually, the address says it all Graphics.com

I must say, I was not happy with the "Downloads" section, but the "tips" and "resources" gave me the opposite feeling :)

For website designers.

Who ever made this website he, for sure, chose a smart name for it: web-weaver

Not just a smart name, but smart content too.

Web weaver is full of resources for anyone who wants to learn web design, or learn more about it.

It also contains tools, tempelates, clip art, almost everything a webdesigner needs.

I must say I adored the site, I hope you will too :)

Calling All Egg Heads!

Oh! so you think that you are an "Egg Head"? (if you don't know what an Egg head is, it is a way to describe a smart person, so don't be offended).

What I liked about this website is its name/domain Egg Head Cafe or http://www.eggheadcafe.com/

Primarily it's a website with articles and questions answered for .net developers.

But I can still see a corner for related content such as adobe (you might be interested in Photoshop if you are an ASP.net developer for example).

There's a corner for unanswered questions if you want to share your opinion.

One of the questions was "How to Get Your Silverlight Pages Indexed By Search Engines"

Check it out, looks useful to me :)

They Closed Their Doors!

Sadly they did!

Digital Web magazine was one of the coolest places for web developers and designers, it had some cool articles contributed from web authors, it was like a collective information site.

The site will remain, as the webmaster stated in the daily news section on the right.

So it is still worth checking out, there are still some valuable information, and ideas to dig for in this magazine.

An EartWeb site!

This title mentioned above refers to developer.com

the name says it all, it is a website dedicated for developers and programmers, mostly of famous programming languages such as C++, JAVA...etc.

It combine programming guides, with articles, news of the programming industry, webinars, white papers and more.

Surf around, you'll find lots of useful information.

Coder's Planet

This website is a must for all coders (Programmers).

it contains tutorials, example and sample codes, articles and how to's, they even have contests and job postings!

One of my friends won a one year website hosting in one of its contests.

What I like about this website mainly is its simplicity.

The questions are categorized, on the right so you can check the topics related to your technological interests.

ASP for every one!

ASP, or Active Server Pages, to those who don't know, it's Microsoft's technology to create intelligent web pages (You know, dynamic pages that look kind of interactive).

Anyway, one thing I noticed, there are a lot of web sites dedicated in one way or another to this web development technology.

Among them is http://www.aspfree.com/

it's a reference to developers, full of tutorials for beginners, and lots of useful articles related to ASP, ASP.net, and even other related Microsoft programming languages, and technologies (Such as IIS web server, SQL and database programming).

This website is worth looking at!

Web Building for Beginners

I can't think of a certain reason why I chose this site as a subject for my first post, but I'm sure after you visit it, and have a look around, you'll understand why http://www.w3schools.com/ was the first Tech site that came up on my mind.

It's a perfect resource for anyone beginning his trip of learning web building techniques.

You can begin with the simple and practical tutorials, from simple HTML, to high level scripting, such as ASP, PHP…etc.

You can then check the pile of examples available, which includes do it yourself exercises.

When needed, you can check the rich references on this site. So this site should be in your favorites, you will probably want to visit it from time to time.

So go ahead, pay this rich site a visit, click around, you can start by scrolling down to the "Where To Start" part of the site.

As you navigate, you will understand why the following quote is written on the main page of the website:
